More than 433 million* people use Pinterest to find tomorrow’s ideas. It’s a place to look forward. By looking at trends on Pinterest in the immediate past, we can glean valuable insights into what may trend elsewhere in the near future.
The search trends in Pinterest Predicts Weekly aren’t just from the last four weeks. All search queries that Pinterest presents have been growing over the last 12 months.
To make the trend lines, Pinterest first takes the raw search volume from the last 12 months. To remove platform seasonality, they then index the search volume against the volume of all searches on Pinterest. Finally, they normalize the trend line so that we can compare trends and better see what ideas are trending together.

Pinterest is back with the latest Pinner trends and this week they’ve collected insights around the theme of Spotlight on Gen Z. On Pinterest, Gen Z are fully embracing the cozy vibes – including fall makeup, color palettes, and seasonal style 🧡.
- 140% increase in “fall makeup looks”
- 185% increase in “crockpot chili”
- 110% increase in “chicken nuggets”
- 105% increase in “pumpkin pancakes”
- 95% increase in “vintage horror art”
- 45% increase in “70s disco”
Spotlight on Gen Z
Younger members of Gen Z (ages 18–24) are heading off to school, while others are entering the workforce, moving into new apartments, and marking milestones as they become adept at adulting. Everyone enjoys making the most of the fall season, though, which involves a love of autumnal color palettes, rib–sticking soups, and sprinkling pumpkin spice with wild abandon.
There has been a 140% increase in searches for “fall makeup looks” from Oct 2021 through Sep 2022 and In the last three weeks compared to the previous three weeks (ages 18–24):

As the weather turns chilly, Gen Z on Pinterest are cooking up hearty soups and stews that serve as one–bowl meals.
The horror of it all
Gen Z are taking Halloween style, costume and decor cues from retro and iconic horror movies.
