5 reasons why you should use Pinterest for your business

VIDEO down below if you’d rather watch then read!

If you’re not yet marketing your products or services on Pinterest, you’re missing out on saving time and having your content lasting longer than any other social media.

While more people are opting for social media detoxes during this stressful time in 2020, social media sites like Facebook and Instagram are harder and harder for businesses to reach potential customers unless you pay for ads.  Pinterest’s advantage is that it’s viewed as a creative space where people can gather their ideas and be inspired by other user’s content. In fact, Pinterest users are twice as likely to say their time on the platform is well-spent and positive compared to other platforms. And not only do Pinterest users find value in their experience, but they also take action when a pin catches their attention.

For newbies – What is Pinterest?

It works like your favorite photo album or a mood board, and I think of Pinterest as a big, visual search engine with over 367 million users actively engage every month. 600 million visual searches occur monthly on Pinterest (Pinterest).  Using Pinterest for your business leads to Increased awareness, Additional blog traffic, New leads, and ultimately Increased sales

Here are 5 compelling reasons why you should starting using Pinterest for your business:

Most effective use of your time when it comes to all social media sites:

Time spent on Pinterest pays off long-term because Pins last a long time! meaning your quality content has a longer shelf life. Feeds drive other digital channels, which means recency reigns supreme. Because Pinterest is a search engine, the content has evergreen value. Creating high quality, relevant Pins, and optimizing your website, you will see results. To effectively share why you should be on Pinterest, let me share this fact check this out (insert graphic). That’s right Pinterest has the BEST longevity for the life of a post.

Pinterest has links and makes it easy to share

Pinterest makes link-sharing a lot easier than Instagram. Pinterest allows pins on each of their content (pins). The ability to easily add links is what sets Pinterest apart from Instagram as a powerful marketing strategy.

Pinterest helps to reduce the number of steps from discovery to conversion, making it easier for people to get straight to the source. Adding links to pins makes it super-easy for a Pinterest user to find out more about the Pin that has caught their eye, and potentially go on to make a purchase.

Pinners love to shop

61% of Pinterest users have purchased something after seeing a promoted pin (Pinterest).  48% of US Pinterest users use Pinterest primarily to shop (eMarketer) and   72% of Pinterest users are inspired to shop when using the platform even if they aren’t looking for anything in particular (Pinterest)

Pinterest converts more browsers into buyers.  Visitors from Pinterest are more likely to convert into leads or sales faster than from other social media sources. The user’s ability to easily purchase directly through the platform during their time on site has great potential for generating sales.

Pinterest has a strong advantage over other platforms because it emphasizes link-sharing and saving, allowing users to share links to your website on their accounts.

With an average order of $50, Pinterest users tend to spend more per order than on any other social media platform. To help create a seamless user experience, Pinterest has also developed a Buyable Pins feature which allows users to buy your products without having to leave the platform.

When a customer places an order through Pinterest, all the order and payment information is sent directly to you for processing and customer service. And the amazing benefit to you is that Pinterest doesn’t take a cut from your sales.

Pinterest tells you you should post when

Pinterest is the only social media site that tells you what is hot now and what you should pin to get clients.  Pinterest can give you powerful signals into emerging trends and popular products in a given industry. Pinterest search bubbles up popular keywords and trending products in real-time.  Simply go to https://trends.pinterest.com/ and discover what people are looking for.  You’ll learn The week’s top Pinterest Trends, Discover the week’s trending ideas across the most popular categories, and even 100 Pinterest Trends to get a sneak peek into what people are dreaming about for the year ahead in the official 100 Pinterest trends.

Pinterest is the positive corner of the interest and social media:  more than 9 out of 10 Pinners say Pinterest inspires them, gives them ideas for their life, and helps them achieve their goals. It’s a no-judgment zone like the other social media platforms and stats prove it because more than 91% of Pinners say that Pinterest is a positive place.  After COVID hit, the platform also introduced a slate of tools and well-being activities for users to help them cope with anxiety, stress, and sadness.  It’s the place that so many turned to that it caused Pinterest to see record-breaking stats on usage.

The great thing for you is that since many marketing professionals don’t fully know how to take advantage of Pinterest in their advertising and marketing strategy, there’s potentially less competition to get in front of your audience compared to more popular platforms like Facebook and Instagram. In this article, we’ll shed light on why Pinterest is a worthwhile social channel for increasing customer acquisition and brand awareness in 2020.

Summing it up

If you’ve previously overlooked Pinterest you may want to reconsider. Most businesses don’t want to invest time to learn and use another social media platform, but I’m here to help businesses learn how easy it is to learn and use it.

I hope today you learned that it is way more effective than the other social media platforms.  My clients have seen significant traffic from Pinterest by just putting in a tiny bit of work.

If you include social media in your marketing and customer acquisition strategies, Pinterest is definitely worth considering. And think of all the business owners who are overwhelmed with social media and aren’t even dipping their toe into the Pinterest waters — you will be ahead of the game!

Pinterest Best Practices 2020

PINTEREST BEST PRACTICES

You should learn everything you can to make sure you are optimizing your time on Pinterest traffic possible.

PIN SIZE

Using a 2:3 ratio, pins are organized into columns, so Pinterest wants you to create vertical pins. If your pins aren’t this ratio, it’s probable that the Pinterest algorithm will show the pins less often than pins with the right ratio.

THE SECRET TO MAKE PINTEREST MARKETING EASY:  Simplify and Streamline your process with the new Tailwind Create tool

PIN IMAGE

Pick an image that is related to your topic. Pinterest uses the image of your pin as data to show it to more people when it is most relevant. Pinterest actually looks at the photo on your pin and decides what your pin is about. So, if your image is of a wedding but you are a marketing coach – it will be confused.  You want the image to match the title of or what your blog is about.

Whenever possible, try not to use free stock photos. If you use a free stock photo that has been used too many times and for different topics, you run the risk that your pin will be shown for the wrong topic.

The best thing you can do is to take your own images or pay for images as they will be used much less often.  You can belong to a stock photo group like me or use the “pro” images on Canva.  You can do this by paying for them or paying for the Pro version.

Using images of people You want to avoid using images of people as people go to Pinterest to be inspired and thus they want to picture themselves using the product or doing what the image is showing.  You can use images of people’s hands, desks, laptops, phones, products, flat lays, and other lifestyle photos.

To get the most out of every blog post, you should utilize multiple pins.  This gives you the best chance of getting more traffic and optimizing your blog post for Pinterest

TEXT OVERLAY

Make your text overlay count! Using keywords and less than 5 words is helpful. Use great headlines. Use fonts that are easy to read.  If you are using a cursive type font, use it only for those words that are of, the, a, and, etc.  Those aren’t important keywords.  Pinterest reads the text, so if it’s cursive, it won’t be able to read it.  Use a font size that could be read from mobile. Use hierarchy: play with different fonts, use bold or italics, use different colors.

PUT YOUR BLOG NAME/LOGO/WEBSITE ON YOUR PIN

Always make sure that your pins can be tied back to your website.  Sometimes, a pin can lose it’s link because someone includes their website or by accident, so having a blog name, logo or website helps someone who finds it to be able to put your website on there.

Plus, it can be useful for branding recognition.

CREATE DIFFERENT TYPES OF PINS

When I first starting creating pins, I only used my brand colors.  What I found is not everyone will click or be urged to click on the same pin.  So, use different styles and colors to appeal to different people.   Also, having pins with all the same design could get people confused and reduce your click-through and re-pinning rates.

Your content goes here. Edit or remove this text inline or in the module Content settings. You can also style every aspect of this content in the module Design settings and even apply custom CSS to this text in the module Advanced settings.

How to use Lead Magnets and Pinterest to grow your list

Do you want to grow your email list?    Of course, you do — that’s the way you warm people up to be able to sell to them.

Today I’m sharing How to use Lead Magnets and Pinterest to grow your list

How to use Lead Magnets and Pinterest to grow your list

As most of you know, Pinterest is one of the most underutilized and FREE but insanely effective marketing platforms you can use for your business.

Here are the steps to take:

  • Create a Lead Magnet (Quiz, Checklist, or Guide are best)
  • Create several pins (using different images) that link to that blog post
  • Pin those pins to Pinterest on multiple boards that make sense
  • people who want the FREE thing, sign up for your email list
  • Make sure that you have 3-4 welcome emails auto-send (one each day)
  • And in the last email, you give them an offer (course, membership, product, service)

After two weeks,

See which Pin has the most clicks (meaning that people wanted to sign up).  Use that one as the template and create more pins (change colors (think branding).  Pin those.  After two weeks, you’ll have the top three pins due to insights.

Take those tops three pins and use SmartLoop (in Tailwind) to pin them consistently.

A note about creating your lead magnet

Different studies have shown that our attention span with the invention of cell phones and social media has gone down.  That’s no surprise, but this means that it would be best to keep your “freebie” or “lead magnet” short, sweet and to the point.  BUT — they must learn something valuable to start that know, like and trust with your business.

People typically need to hear from you multiple times before they purchase.  The Rule of Seven is an old marketing adage. It says that a prospect needs to see or hear your marketing message at least seven times before they take action and buy from you.

Dig a little deeper:

What I’ve found is that people will say they found me on Instagram, but when I dig deeper, it turns out they found me on Pinterest – looked at my website and Instagram or Facebook and then contacted me.  So, surprisingly, what they first say may not be true.  Dig a little deeper to find out where so you know where to spend your time.

3 Pinterest strategies for service-based businesses.

3 Pinterest strategies for service-based businesses

If you are a service-based business, you NEED Pinterest.  It’s free marketing! So, Today we are going to talk about 3 Pinterest strategies for service-based businesses.

Hey, I’m Jen of wed photography coach Helping you create marketing systems to easily drive traffic to your content!

Having a strategy is a great way to make working on Pinterest easier.  I always have a system for doing all marketing things in my business.  I’d rather spend time with my family!

So let’s go over the 3 strategies to use for your service-based business.

Create Content that Encourages them to Come Back for More Help!

People go to Pinterest to be inspired, to buy something, or learn how to solve a problem or do something.. Women who become pregnant go to Pinterest, people who are engaged definitely use Pinterest.  So consider creating content that helps people within your niche.

Position Yourself as an Expert

The easiest thing you can do is to create content on questions that you get from your clients.  If your clients have the question, you can bet those on Pinterest are searching the same thing.  This can be a blog post, youtube video, Instagram post, Podcast – the ideas are endless.  Bonus points if you create a lead magnet or something these “potential clients” can get something for free from you and you get their email so you can warm them up with helpful info and then sell to them.

Use Keywords that your Ideal Client will Search for

Many of my clients would use acronyms or industry words for their business.  That only works to get other businesses to look at your stuff.  DUMB down the content so anyone can find it.  An example is: instead of saying e session – spell it out “engagement session”.

I created this awesome free Pinterest Challenge to learn how to get your Pinterest set up for your business and to start driving traffic to your content!  Just type in the code “pinchallenge” to get the course for free!

Ok now go work smarter not harder!!  Happy Pinning!!
